<li><strong>Multi-Environment Hosting</strong>: The Innovation Sandbox will host three distinct versions of the EOSC Core Services:

<li><strong>Development</strong>: For individual Core providers to test their own developments.</li>



<li><strong>Integration</strong>: To test and validate the capabilities of the entire EOSC Platform.</li>



<li><strong>Pre-production</strong>: An environment that includes new capabilities delivered by the project, simulating the production environment.</li>
</ol>
</li>



<li><strong>Distributed Infrastructure</strong>: Each Core provider deploys instances of their services for the Sandbox on their premises, mirroring the setup of the production EOSC Core services.</li>



<li><strong>Governed Access</strong>: Processes and procedures are in place to manage service provider access to the Innovation Sandbox, ensuring a structured and secure environment.</li>



<li><strong>Automated Integration</strong>: The integration of EOSC Exchange services with the EOSC Core Infrastructure will be increasingly automated throughout the project, utilising EOSC Core adapters from the EOSC Integration Suite.</li>
</ul>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Access and Use:</h3>



<p>The first release of the Sandbox will be up and running by the end of July 2024. The Innovation Sandbox will gradually open to other providers and initiatives interested in integrating with EOSC. The Sandbox will also facilitate the deployment and validation of the EOSC Node network through project pilots, showcasing and demonstrating new capabilities as they are implemented.</p>

<p>The EOSC Execution Framework consists of two main components:</p>

<li><strong>Enriched EOSC IF Registry:</strong>
<ul>
<li>The EOSC IF (Interoperability Framework) Registry, part of the EOSC Platform, provides essential tools for describing and managing the interoperability capabilities of various resources. This registry facilitates the annotation of EOSC resources across different research and e-infrastructure domains, enhancing the discovery and usability of these resources based on their interoperability features.</li>



<li>Interoperability Guidelines: Associates resources with the EOSC IF Guidelines they comply with and specific configurations (access parameters) for users. These guidelines typically combine technical elements such as protocols, APIs, and formats, providing detailed instructions on their use and assembly.</li>
</ul>
</li>



<li><strong>Deployment Service:</strong>
<ul>
<li>On-Demand Deployment: Facilitates the deployment of services on hybrid Cloud infrastructures, offering flexibility and scalability.</li>



<li>Integration with Resource Catalogue: Works seamlessly with the Resource Catalogue to provide users with comprehensive descriptions of service access and deployment procedures.</li>
</ul>

<p>Together, the EOSC IF Registry and Deployment Service form a cohesive framework that supports the dynamic and efficient provisioning of services, enhancing the overall functionality and user experience of the EOSC platform.</p>



<p>EOSC Beyond will work towards identifying a machine-readable vocabulary of license elements for EOSC. This will cover aspects of managed access, confidentiality, and data protection, integrating them into the EOSC IF Registry to further streamline resource management and compliance.</p>

<li>Adapter Sharing and Reuse: Facilitates the sharing and reuse of software libraries to solve common interoperability challenges in scientific applications.</li>



<li>Enhanced EOSC IF Registry: Extends the registry to allow developers to onboard adapters by completing a metadata profile (e.g., name, description, date, standards, programming languages). This registry links resources to their respective guidelines and configurations, ensuring clear and accessible documentation for users.</li>
</ul>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">User Access and Benefits</h3>



<ul>
<li>Developer Tools: End-users (developers) can use the EOSC Marketplace and the EOSC Catalogue to find adapters for interoperation with services of interest, following a clear service-guidelines-adapter path.</li>



<li>Open and Extensible Environment: Supports an open environment where research communities can publish their adapters, benefiting other communities and advancing scientific collaboration.</li>



<li>Population and Scouting: EOSC Beyond will populate the Suite with adapters for both EOSC Core and Exchange services, and will actively scout for reusable libraries from research communities and technology providers to be registered in the suite.</li>



<li>Marketplace Integration: The EOSC Marketplace will be extended to incorporate the Suite’s capabilities, promoting library sharing and maximising their exploitation by end-users.</li>
</ul>



<p>The EOSC Integration Suite is designed to improve service interoperability within the EOSC ecosystem, fostering a collaborative and efficient environment for scientific research and technological innovation.</p>

<p>EOSC Beyond is also dedicated to enhancing current EOSC Core services and framework. This includes improvements to various aspects such as Authentication and Authorization Infrastructure (AAI), Persistent Identifiers, Resource Catalogue, Metadata Knowledge Graph, Marketplace, Accounting, Monitoring &amp; Messaging, Helpdesk, Platform architecture, EOSC Resource Profiles and Models, Operations Policy recommendations, Release Management, and Software Quality Assurance.</p>
